DESCRIPTION:Spring is here\, and it’s time to get the club ready for the season! We’d love for you to join us this Saturday\, April 5\, at 9 AM for our first work party of the year\, followed by the annual South Seattle Saddle Club Easter Egg Hunt & Potluck at 11 AM. \nWork Party – 9 AM \nThere’s plenty to do\, and we need all hands on deck! Our tasks for the day include:\n• Turning on the water\n• Cleaning the bathrooms\, office\, and kitchen\n• Installing the hot water tank in the kitchen\n• Picking up downed trees and branches\n• Weed-eating around the arena\, kitchen\, office\, bathrooms\, pump house\, round pen\, and tractor shed\n• Clearing blackberry bushes from the entrance fence and front road\n• Splitting and stacking firewood (we’ll have a wood splitter available)\n• Pressure washing the Connex roof in preparation for sealing \nEaster Egg Hunt & Potluck – 11 AM \nAfter the work party\, we’ll continue the fun with our annual Easter Egg Hunt and potluck! The club will be providing ham\, so please bring a side dish to share. \nIf you’re bringing children\, please bring half a dozen candy-filled or hard-boiled eggs per child to contribute to the hunt. Members and their invited guests are welcome! \nWe appreciate your help in keeping our club in great shape and look forward to celebrating together. See you there!

We explore trails throughout the Pacific Northwest\, with a mix of short\, local rides and special overnight adventures. By connecting riders with nature and community\, we promote responsible horsemanship\, trail etiquette\, and safety. Our mission is to foster a supportive group where riders of all levels can learn\, share experiences\, and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors on horseback. \nSaturday March 15 at 12pm \nDanville Georgetown Open Space Trail \nSE 262nd St\, Ravensdale\, WA 98051 \nJoin South Seattle Saddle Club Members Lyndsey San Sebastian and Anita Chandler for a fun loop around Danville Georgetown. This is a beginner safe route and all disciplines are welcome. We’ll weave in and out of heavily forested areas. Trails are well maintained with no water crossings. Easy parking next to road – pull in\, pull out – no backing up required. Park on the same side of the road as the school. Everyone meet at the trail head (next to the horse crosswalk) at 12pm for a quick meet and greet before we head out. Pack water and a snack as we’ll plan for quick break in the middle. \n

SUMMARY:Competitive Mounted Orienteering Event
DESCRIPTION:Come out and try “the thinking horse sport”….Competitive Mounted Orienteering! Learn new trails\, explore new places and meet nice people while having fun with your horse! \nCompetitive Mounted Orienteering is a nonprofit organization intended to be a safe\, inexpensive and fun equine activity for all riders. Conducted in such a manner as to both encourage competition among those seeking a competitive event and to encourage casual\, family style riding for those wishing a less challenging event. Competitors may ride single or in teams. \nC.M.O. has often been described as a “mounted treasure hunt”. Event organizers provide maps and course outlines. Participants furnish their own mounts and compasses. Using these tools\, riders search for designated “objective stations” (paper plates with letters to be recorded to prove they were found) inside a 3/4 mile circled area on the event map. Clues for each station are listed on the back of the map with intersecting compass bearings pointing at the hidden plate. The objective is to find all the hidden plates and record the letters on the plates in the shortest amount of time. Riders travel at their own pace and determine which stations to find in any order. \nEach event is divided into long (10 Objectives) and short (5 Objectives) course divisions. Typical rides can cover 5 to 25 miles. Riders accumulate points for annual awards and ribbons are awarded at each ride through 6th place on the long course and 3rd place on the short course. \nSpring and summer rides are held on Saturday and Sunday with a potluck dinner and campfire Saturday nights to hand out ribbons and to visit and laugh about strategies that did or didn’t work. \nYou can give it a try as a day member for $5 (insurance fee) plus the regular members ride fee (about $15) per day. Annual membership dues are $40 (Families) or $25 (Individual)plus $5.00 for Washington State dues. Having a National and State membership qualifies each rider and their horse for lifetime awards. All breeds and disciplines are WELCOME!
