Code of Conduct - South Seattle Saddle Club

The Club’s Code of Conduct is essential for maintaining a positive, respectful, and safe environment for all members. Adherence to this code is vital for preserving the integrity of the Club, and violations may result in disciplinary actions, including warnings, suspension, or revocation of membership. Alleged violations will be investigated and reviewed by the Club’s leadership or an with members having the right to appeal decisions

Article I: Expected Behavior

Section 1: General Conduct

  • All members shall conduct themselves in a respectful, responsible, and sportsmanlike manner at all times.
  • Members must follow all club rules, bylaws, and constitution.

Section 2: Horse Care and Welfare

  • Members must treat all horses humanely, with proper care, feeding, and handling.
  • Abuse, neglect, or mistreatment of any horse will not be tolerated.

Article II: Unacceptable Behaviors

Section 1: Disrespectful Conduct

  • Use of abusive, discriminatory, or offensive language, including but not limited to slurs based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
  • Disruption of club meetings, events, or activities through unruly, aggressive, or intentionally disruptive behavior.
  • Harassment, bullying, discrimination, aggressive/threatening behavior, physical violence, or inappropriate behavior toward members, guests, or animals. 
  • Cyberbullying through club social media or club communication platforms will not be tolerated.

Section 2: Unethical Practices

  • Fraud, deceit, or dishonesty in interactions with other members or in the use of club resources.
  • Unauthorized use or misappropriation of club funds, property, or intellectual property.
  • Sharing private or confidential information without authorization.
  • Misrepresentation of the club or acting in a manner that harms its reputation.

Section 3: Dangerous or Illegal Activities

    • Engaging in illegal activities during club events, while representing the club or on club property.
    • Possession, use, or distribution of illegal substances at club-related events or on club grounds
    • Acts of physical violence, threats, or endangerment of the safety of others.
