  1. Take it slow
Don’t rush your horse through obstacles. Give them time to think, process, and build confidence. Progress at a pace that matches their experience and comfort level.
  2. Start from the ground
If your horse is new to an obstacle or shows fear, dismount and lead them through it first. Groundwork builds trust and helps them learn without added pressure.
  3. Use positive reinforcement
Praise and reward your horse for effort and try—not just perfect execution. Encouragement helps build trust and willingness.
  4. Respect the Obstacle Course
Use obstacles thoughtfully. Don’t misuse equipment and avoid rough handling that could damage the setup.
  5. Share the space
Be mindful of other riders. Don’t monopolize an obstacle—take a few good tries, then move on so others have a chance.
  6. No goofing around
Obstacle courses are training tools—not playgrounds. Keep the atmosphere focused, safe, and respectful for both horses and humans.
  7. Be aware of your surroundings
Keep a safe distance between horses and watch for others approaching or working through obstacles.
  8. Report any damage or hazards
If you see a broken obstacle, a sharp edge, or anything that could be dangerous, notify a club member right away.
  9. Be patient with others
Every horse and rider is at a different stage. Support fellow riders by offering space and encouragement, not criticism or pressure.
  10. Safety first—always
Helmets are strongly encouraged. Stay alert, be prepared to dismount if needed, and never push your horse into a situation that feels unsafe.
